BLAST Pro Series 2018 Copenhagen: Day 2 recap

CS2 / News / 2 November 2018 — 22:00

NAVI finishes the day with 3 wins

The second game day BLAST Pro 2018 Copenhagen saw ua NAVI.GG.BET fighting dk Astralis, br MIBR and se Ninjas in Pyjamas. The games were quite close, but at the end of the day, ua NAVI secures a 3:0 finish for the second game day.

Overpass - Natus Vincere [16:9] Astralis

The first map for ua NAVI was the fight with dk Astralis. The Danes claimed the pistol round, and converted into 2 more. ua NAVI came online in the 4th round, having good guns and setup to claim a round. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to capitalize on that, as dk Astralis took the following round, hitting our economy hard. We opted to go for a force buy, which was a rather risky play. The risk paid off, though, as we snatched the 6th round away, coming right back into the game.

The game seemed to take a sharp turn after that, as ua NAVI went on the offensive, picking up a few rounds, tying the game at 5:5. The next couple of rounds saw ua NAVI play almost without casualties - 1-2 players dropped. Ultimately, we were able to hit 8 points, claiming at least the first half. However, we were aiming to get as big of an advantage as possible, so ua NAVI grabbed the 9th round to go, finishing the half with a clutch round - we move to the second half with 10:5 score.

The pistol round of the second half started with a rather intense fight near the tunnels, but ua NAVI managed to take the point. We continued to play our game, going on the offensive. We were sitting on 10 in a row, as we claimed 4 rounds of the second half, with a 2v3 game - ua s1mple denied the defuse, and the only remaining CT chose to fall back and save the weapon.  That loss hit dk Astralis rather hard, as they were unable to get much utility their way. Unfortunately, the guns were enough to deny us the round, as ua Edward was left in a 1v4 - he chose to save. The next round went in a similar fashion, and the economy started to look shaky on the side of ua NAVI.

ua Zeus tried to go for the plant in a 2v3 situation, but the rotation from behind caught him off-guard, as dk Astralis went on a 3-round streak. ua NAVI spiced the game up a bit, though, by clutching out the match point, as we stopped 1 round away from taking the map. It all came down to ua s1mple - dk Xyp9x clutch, and ua s1mple was the one to bring it home - ua NAVI secure the game versus dk Astralis!

Overpass - Natus Vincere [16:14] MIBR

The second game started off with a pistol round victory for br MIBR, and ua NAVI responded with a force buy. The opponent claimed another point before ua NAVI went on a very big streak, taking 5 in a row. Such a big lead allowed us to build up a rather good economy, so when br MIBR took off a round, we were able to still get a good buy. The game score was 7:4, but as br MIBR managed to finish off all of the Terrorists in the 12th round, ua NAVI were still far from securing the half, with the money being very low on our side. This spelled another eco for ua NAVI, as br MIBR drew the score to 7:6. The half was coming to a close, as for the last round of the half, we were able to afford the guns, but the bomb still went off - we drop the first half 7:8.

The pistol round on the second half was lost by ua NAVI, as br MIBR increased the advantage further. The next round saw ru electroNic in a 1v1 clutch, and he was the one to take down the opponent and defuse the bomb - only 1 round difference. That difference didn't stand for long, as ua NAVI came straight back into the game. 5 rounds straight for ua NAVI, and the scoreline showed 12:9. CTs had a very good run for a while, with a couple defuses coming through.

However, in the latter, portion, br MIBR was able to turn the game around, and a couple of rounds allowed them to convert those into a very sizeable streak. br MIBR were coming dangerously close, until they hit the same score - 14:14. ua NAVI stepped up massively, managing to swiftly dispose of several enemies - match point at 15:15, and the ultimate resolution, as we take a confident match point in an incredible back-and-forth series - 16:14.

inferno - Natus Vincere [16:10] Ninjas in Pyjamas

The final game of the day for ua NAVI was the match against se Ninjas in Pyjamas. We won the pistol round, but didn't manage to convert it straight away, as se Ninjas in Pyjamas pulled out a force buy to grab themselves the initiative for themselves, going on the 5-round streak. The scoreboard showed 1:5 before ua NAVI came back online into the half, money from the loss bonus definitely playing a role. We avoided the reset and capitalized on it, striking se Ninjas in Pyjamas economy down. Still, the first half really went down to the wire, as teams were trading rounds towards the end. ua NAVI closed off the first half with a minimal advantage - 8:7.

se Ninjas in Pyjamas claimed the second pistols, converting it into one more. However, a good buy from ua NAVI allowed us to go on a pretty big streak - we get 6 in a row, securing a massive lead for ourselves in the process. se Ninjas in Pyjamas still tried to get back into the game, and they got a defuse towards the end of the game, but ua NAVI were there to reset the opponents' economy, as we went on to the match point. The 16th point was secured by ua NAVI rather confidently - we take the map 16:10.
