IEM Chicago 2018: to the lower bracket

NAVI.GG.BET drops to the lower bracket

Group B opening match pitted NAVI.GG.BET against eUnited in a Bo1 series. The game took place on Mirage, and  NAVI drop the map with a score of 6:16.

The game started off with the pistol round going the way of eUnited. The opponents converted that pistol into a couple more points, getting all the way to 0:3. NAVI only managed to come online in the 4th round, but got reset right after. For the 6th round of the half, we chose to go for a double AWP setup - unfortunately, that didn't seem to work for us. eUnited were still incredibly strong, as NAVI were failing to get much done on the map. Eventually, the opponent got to 8 points, securing the half.

This seemed to wake NAVI up, as we got another couple of rounds on board. Still, that wasn't even remotely enough, with eUnited being miles ahead. They broke the double-digits barrier, further increasing the advantage. The first half ended with a 3:12 score for the opponent, as NAVI had quite a challenge ahead of them.

The second half started off rather well for NAVI - we got the pistol round and converted it into a decent streak. Even though we lost all our members, so we had go for a rebuy. The victory of eUnited in that round was a very costly for us, as that damaged our economy very significantly. Unfortunately, we were unable to recover from that timely, as the score was already very risky. eUnited didn't take long to get to match point and finish the game - NAVI drop the map 6:16.
