Doki — on NAVI run, streams and the new operators

gb Jack "Doki" Robertson has reviewed gb NAVI.GG.BET performance at Pro League Season 10 LAN, talked about analytics on YouTube channel and took a look at 2 new operators — Kali and Wamai.

gb Natus Vincere became the champions after defeating us DarkZero Esports in the finals with a score of 2 : 0. Have a look at the infographics to learn more details about the event.

Share your overall impressions of the tournament. What do you think of gb Natus Vincere performance?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

I think we played well the entire tournament but didn't really show how good we truly are until the final game. We made a lot of mistakes that led up to the final, but we learned from them and made sure they did not happen again.

Which team surprised you the most? Who was interesting to follow?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

au Wildcard Gaming, for sure, they really prepared for us well and countered us almost perfectly with their aggression, WP to them — they really deserve to be where they are.

au Wildcard Gaming was one step away from achieving a positive result. Did you expect such fierce resistance from the team?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

No, I expected it to be a hard game because they're all such great players individually, but I didn't expect how coordinated they would be, and how prepared they would be.

The grand finals ended with a victory for gb NAVI with a score of 2:0. Were the Born to Win really that much stronger than us DarkZero Esports or did they just tilt after a couple of unsuccessful rounds?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

As I said before, I think we really showed how strong we can be when we faced us DarkZero. We knew how strong they are, but we didn't let it bother us, instead, we played our game and we played our playstyle - which is why we are so strong.

During the matches, you actively supported the team on Twitter and chatted live on Twitch. What was the coolest moment in your opinion?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

When hr neLo clutched the 1 v 4 vs au WildCard Gaming, and gb CTZN playing against us Team Reciprocity at Consulate. I was screaming so much at my monitor: I couldn't believe what I'm watching. It was truly amazing to watch a team that I was a part of achieving such greatness!

To which of the gb Natus Vincere payers would you award the MVP title?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

Definitely either gb CTZN, or hr neLo. They played so consistently well across every map and every game: it's the consistent plays that matter as you can work your whole team around some of the plays these guys were making, but it's hard. The whole team played insanely and gb Pie had a great run despite being a "new" player.

Esports in Japan is just gaining momentum. Would you like to go to a tournament in this country in the future? What would you do first: watch anime, go to a manga store, eat local food?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

I am sad I couldn't make it to the tournament. I would definitely go out and eat local food, but I am neither anime nor manga fan.

You stream quite often. Do you think it’s just a hobby or are you thinking of becoming a full-time streamer in the future?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

I think my stream is going super well right now, I'm enjoying interacting with fans on a daily basis. So no, I think this is a lot more than just a hobby, but my main goal is to play pro in Rainbow Six Siege and stream on the side, and I am not going to stop till I achieve this goal again.

How much harder is it to give your best in the game when you are streaming? Or do you focus more on content while you are streaming and when you are off-stream you go hard?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

It’s a lot harder to “try” when streaming as there are so many distracting factors, so I just play for fun and try to entertain my audience.

On ua Natus Vincere YouTube you analyze matches with gb NAVI. How do you like the role of an analyst? And how difficult is it to evaluate the game of your own teammates?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

It's somewhat weird actually: I know all the strats, but I know them all as a player so I execute them without really thinking about it. But when I'm looking back and analyzing it occurs to be how complex some of them are, which is nice to see.

Which of the operators (attack and defense) could you call versatile — those who can be played on every map? What about Hibana and Jager, who were used by gb NAVI quite often that tournament?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

Definitely, these ops are key for every attack and defense no matter where you are playing. SmokeMaestro, and Echo fall under this category as well — you can never “not need them”.

gb NAVI banned Mira, Maestro, and Capitao most often — 4 times each. Are these operators really that strong? Should they be nerfed?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

They are strong, but they are more annoying than “broken” let's put it that way. The reason we removed them isn't that they are super strong and hard to play against, it's just that it requires more time and thought to counter some of them on specific maps and some teams are better with them than others.

se Fabian promised that if gb NAVI wins the Pro League he’ll get a tattoo of you on his thumb. Will you get him away with that it was a joke or are you waiting for the promise to be fulfilled?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

It was on his big toe! Next time I see se Fabian, I'll buy the tattoo for him myself and I won't let him get away with it. Promises must be kept.

As part of the Rainbow Six Siege pilot program, gb Natus Vincere received a skin for Doc. How often you take him in the matchmaking because of it?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

Doc is one of my main operators, he is just a super good solo and team-oriented operator with a great gun — probably one of the best for casual play.

How about Bandit’s MP7? We think that thing is popping!
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

SUPER CLEAN design. And Bandit is always an asset.

Which other operators would you like to see in the colors of gb NAVI? Or maybe a skin for a specific gun?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

Jager or Ash, because I'm a ranked monkey at heart and that's all I know how to play :D Zofia would be cool too.

What do you think of the Shifting Tides update? Did you like the newly introduced operator? Kali and her weapon — too imbalanced?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

I like them both a lot, the defender is super good without being too OP and he brings a replacement for Jager to the defense. However, IMO Kali is way too powerful - lots of people will disagree with me, especially a lot of pro players, but the way she can be played and the amount of utility as well as fragging power she brings is just too strong.

Share your thoughts on their gadgets. How strong are they?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

The defender's gadget works similar to Jager, but he just redirects projectiles instead of destroying them, I think he will be used similarly to Jager but maybe not as common or only on specific sites.

The attacker will be used in replacement of Thatcher on some maps, I see her being strong on maps like Club House and Bank.

Tell us what do you like to do in your free time?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

I like to go out with some friends or spend time playing the game with some people off-stream - this way I can just relax instead of trying a lot, have some fun.

BlizzCon just ended and they showed a lot of new games. Did you find anything interesting?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

TBH I didn't really pay too much attention, I only really concern myself with FPS games

A few words to the fans who support you and gb NAVI?
gbJack "Doki" Robertson
, ,

The support from the #NAVINATION is just insane, every single person who is cheering for us or buying our skins means the world. Even just saying hi or watching our streams is insane and we couldn't ask for more, so thank you from the bottom of my heart and keep doing what you're doing!
