Sword Art — on the groupstage of the DreamLeague S13

The ua Natus Vincere analyst commented on the groupstage of the , spoke about the drafting choices, recalled the match against se Team Liquid and also gave some tips on who to play to raise MMR.

Many fans were surprised by Slark pick in the first game against us Evil Geniuses. What was the reason for choosing this hero?

It was part of the plan against this particular team. We knew what to expect from them. We practically stole the hero, you can see their further drafts in the course of the tournament. We lost the game but we were satisfied with the draft, we were leading at the start, we just couldn’t properly take advantage.

Was Riki a surprise pick for you? Did you know that ca Arteezy is so strong on it?

We were ready for Riki, as mentioned earlier, we have practiced against us EG before the tournament. All the nuances in case that Riki gets picked was taken into consideration.

The Meepo pick for ph Abed seemed very scary. Were you prepared for this hero? Usually, ua NAVI doesn’t really do well against him.

I think any good team that plays against ph Abed should keep in mind the Meepo pick. We have a pretty productive preparation process and such obvious things we keep in mind for sure. In that situation, Leshrac seemed to be a good choice and il MagicaL did a great job. But there were a few other good choices on top of that.

The games against se Team Liquid were somewhat easy. Did you prepare for this opponent well, or did you just use the best strats available for you?

I think that both preparation and excellent performance from all the guys played a crucial role. ua Mag and kg W_Zayac have been working all night on the proper draft. So Idan had to take a new hero for a stroll (referring Templar Assasin).

The top 3 heroes to gain MMR in this patch?

Hmm, well, I haven’t spent much time in pubs these past couples of weeks. I’d highlight from support heroes: Snapfire(obviously), Disruptor and Lich. In terms of core heroes, if we just scrap Meepo and Brood then I’d highlight PL, Drow and Lone Druid. But speaking of cores it’s a little hard, too much depends on counter picks, and there are now no real broken heroes.

If you had the chance to remove some of the neutral items, which would you get rid of?

I guess you are referring to the Repair Kits in the game against us EG? Well, I like the very idea that you get items from neutrals but I wouldn’t remove them at all, only balance them out. The same Repair Kit can drop to the dominant team, they have little use when you want to increase the advantage. Specifically in that game, in the situation when we were defending T3 tower, just Rubick had a Telekinesis, Fade Bolt with damage reduction talent and stolen armor buff from Lich and that’s just one hero. Sieging the high ground in the late game against this is a little difficult, especially for Meepo. Besides, it’s not like the neutral items prevent the enemy carry to use the BKB in crucial moments.

In my opinion, they gave away the game and neutral items were far from the reason why.
