Panix: «Adaptation is going smoothly»

R6 / News / 6 April 2020 — 17:02

Interview with Panix before the Pro League match

ch Dimitri “” de Longeaux talked about how he adapts to the team, shared his thoughts on what to expect from the match eu G2 Esports, and evaluated the game together with gb Jack "Doki" Robertson.

How is the process of team adaptation going? Can you say that you are already demonstrating your highest level of play?
chDimitri "Panix" de Longeaux
I I

We've started playing with gb Doki at the start of the Line Up and gb Blurr simply took his role. So the adaptation is going very smoothly it's just gb Doki who needs to catch up with the habits we built during the first pro league weeks. Not at all. I don't think anyone can stop at their highest level, it's a matter to keep evolving again and again. Then, it depends which teams are evolving faster or stay where they are and get catch up by the other teams. We're still learning and are expanding our level on every maps.

In four Pro League matches you have won three of them. In general, how do you evaluate the matches against these opponents? What was missing in a game against ru Team Empire?
chDimitri "Panix" de Longeaux
I I

We've been playing really well. We've built a good and stable system. With the players we have, we can adapt and move around this system easily depending of what we discover in the middle of a round.

Against ru Empire we were great at entrying and getting the advantage. But we struggled on executing and rushed in uncoordinated. We simply needed more time and experience.

You have a very upsetting story with your former team, fr BDS Esport. Tell us, was it especially pleasant for you to beat the enemy? Or do you prefer to leave all your resentments out of the game?
chDimitri "Panix" de Longeaux
I I

I don't care about what's happening to other teams. It can be fr BDS or other team, if we beat them I am happy for my team that's it. If emotions are in, I usually play better, but I didn't have time to think about fr BDS or anything that happened. I was too much focused on my team and to prepare us for this match and upcoming ones, so we can elevate our level of play every day. It doesn't change the fact that I didn't play the Six Invitational. Plus, they pushed me to a team with which I get along well and can be happier.

Your next opponent is eu G2 Esports. What do you expect from the match against another stars lineup of the organization? How do you assess in general the prospects of this team?
chDimitri "Panix" de Longeaux
I I

I used to understand very well eu G2's former line ups. Now it's totally different. I expect them to rely a lot on their individual skills and gunplay with dk Pengu's direction to take against us. But we've got good communication and teamplay to react quickly to what they will offer. I think if there's a team that can make such a star packed line up, it is eu G2. They've got a stacked staff to support them and direct them in the right direction. And they've got the most experience player in the world to make them work towards the same goal.

The next match you will be playing together with gb Doki. Are you familiar with his playstyle? What do you think he will bring to the team's game?
chDimitri "Panix" de Longeaux
I I

Yes. As I've said, we've been playing with him at the start of our line up. He's more aggressive than gb Blurr, which he needs to be carefull about. 6 months of ranked can definitely harm a competitive player. But it's only a matter of time for him to understand the limits to overpeeking. He can definitely give us advantage in rounds. Once he will get his confidence back in competitive play, he will be unstoppable. pl Saves has been damn hot individually, but gb Doki on a roll is also another player that can carry the team to a victory if we send him to the right places and trust him in his abilities. Also, he's bringing a lot of comms so we can be sure to not have any "dead" moment where we don't know what to do or what's happening.

And the final question about the patch on the test server. What do you think of the changes there?
chDimitri "Panix" de Longeaux
I I

I am hurt as every time I main a nade operator, Ubisoft take their nades off (Capitao, IQ, now Buck). I think there's some changes that are extreme. It goes from sometimes dead operators to give them absolutely everything (Ying got a buff of her gun, gadget and equipement for example). That's something that I wish they would go step by step, as nerfing takes a lot of time then.

On the other hand, I like how Ubisoft is giving extreme changes to put us out of our comfort zone. There will be no easy choices in our operator composition that can work on multiple situations. For Buck, we'll have to think if we want a distance soft breacher for down to top vertical play specially or if we want nades and a top to down vertical play with Sledge for example. We'll have to think carefully about what we really want to do. If you took the wrong operator for an expected bombsite, you may have to change your strategy around then
