StarSeries i-League S5: victory over VG.Flash
A confident series!
The second round of StarSeries S5 featured NAVI.GG.BET playing against
VG.Flash in a Bo3 series. The encounter ended with a 2:0 victory and a confident 16:8 on both maps.
Game 1 - Natus Vincere [1:0] VG.Flash
The first round of the series started off with an ace by s1mple, but the round went the way of the opponent nonetheless; the next one followed the suit, as he was yet again the last man standing. The score dropped down to 0:3, but the first gun round was claimed by us, marking the start of the climb back ahead. We've capitalized on this point, and tied the game 3:3, eventually taking the lead 4:3, which only lasted for a bit.
VG.Flash reclaimed the lead, with the scoreline hitting 4:6. Yet
NAVI was reluctant to let the opponent run away with that big of an advantage. Still, we did not manage to take a convincing advantage during a round, and the half came down to 7:7.
NAVI closed it with 8:7 - there was a lot to be done in the next half.
The pistols of the second half was won by our squad. NAVI hit the 10-round threshold right after, but this was still far from a solid lead. The gun round saw our economy in a very good shape, and we gave the opponents virtually no chance. Unfortunately, our 5-round streak was interrupted by the opponent as we lost the bomb and had little time to reclaim it - 13:8.
We followed that round with an immediate reset, ruining the opponents' economy while taking the 14th point. Just a round later, we've hit the match point and had a while to go. de_mirage was taken by NAVI with the score of 16:8.
Game 2 - Natus Vincere [] VG.Flash
The pistol round on de_train went the way of VG.Flash, yet the next 3 rounds were secured by
NAVI to claim a 3:1 lead. This allowed us to buy quite a few good guns and strengthen our position on the map. The Chinese team managed to pick up a round in a bit, but
NAVI did not allow
VG.Flash to start getting back into the game.
As we were inching closer towards the 8-round mark, the opponents were putting up a lot more resistance, but the economic advantage and good shooting on our side allowed us to break that barrier and move further ahead. As the half was coming to a close, we've only dropped 1 point, with the first half ending with 11:4.
The pistol round of the second half was taken, yet again, by the opponent. The start was not too good for NAVI, with 3 in a row going the way of
VG.Flash. The first rifle round turned the tides а the game, as we started to pick up the frags and points, forcing the CT into a tough economic situation.
The game slowed down significantly after the opponent's tactical pause. NAVI wasn't quite sure, and did not hurry anywhere, waiting for a bit - eventually, it paid off, with 15:8 on the scoreboard. With a few match points to go, we felt ourselves rather comfortable; but all it took was the first match point -
NAVI takes de_train 16:8!
