IEM Katowice 2019: starting with a victory!

NAVI take the first series!

The first game of NAVI.GG.BET at IEM Katowice 2019 was against G2. The map for the clash was Inferno. In the end, we secure the first series of the event 16:7!

The map started off with G2 planting in the pistol round, but Edward secured 3 kills on the retake, claiming the first round. Next up, there was a 2v2 clutch, but Zeus and s1mple were unable to win it, despite a 3k from electronic. Still, we had the means to get some guns in the round 3, which gave us an opportunity to break ahead even more, with 3:1 on the board. G2 had to eco, and after that, the round 6 saw them claim their second point of the half. Eventually, the lead narrowed down to 1 but we maintained it nonetheless. Another 1v1 went the way of G2 again, so our economy wasn't doing too well. NAVI managed to hold the B bombsite and deny the plant — we lost a few players, but the economy was still good for now.

NAVI was the first to reach 8 rounds, as we denied the opponent even a chance to save a weapon, which immediately drove G2 into the eco zone, and we hit 9:4. For the 14th round, G2 took the B bombsite after we stalled it for a good while, and s1mple + electronic went for a save of AWP and AUG, respectively. For the last round of the half, the 2v3 clutch emerged, and it didn't work out for NAVI — the score settles at 9:6.

The pistol round of the second half had NAVI break into the double-digits, as flamie secured a kill in halls, and another opponent got flashed, so we could plant and defend. A 2v3 in the following round was again beneficial for NAVI. After 3 straight round for us, G2 finally managed to come online in the second half, but didn't get much further. The round 22 saw Edward spray down 4 opponents, spelling a swift end to the round. It didn't take us long to finish the map, as G2 didn't show up with much — the first game of the event for us concludes with 16:7 on the board.
