During the regular season, 16 teams will fight for 8 slots at ESL Pro League S9 LAN finals, which is to take place in Montpellier (France), from June 21 to 23. The qualifiers will run between April 12th and May 23rd.
Since the ninth season, ESL has gone for dramatic changes to the Pro League format. Now all matches in the European and North American division will be LAN. The European region is represented by 16 teams, which were divided into four groups.
The competition now includes two stages. In the first, four teams in each group will play a Round Robin, the winner will advance, and the loser will have to leave the round. The rest of the teams will go to the second stage, where the fights will take place in two groups and two teams from each group will go to the LAN-finals.
In Europe, group stage matches will be held at the ESL studio in Leicester. The prize pool of the qualifiers is yet unannounced.
