The Intenational 2019 group stage: a draw against Infamous

Dota 2 / News / 15 August 2019 — 17:04

2 nail-biting games.

The first opponent ofuaNAVI.GG.BET on the second day of the group stage will be pe Infamous. The match will take place in the best of 2 format.

The representative of Peru can be considered as one of the most interesting and at the same time one of the unknown participants of The International 2019. peInfamous took this team under its wing only before the start of the regional qualifications. The team successfully overcame the qualification and won the spot to represent the region in Shanghai.

pe Team Anvorgesa (which was formerly the name of the five) has no great achievements. The team participated in the tournament by WePlay! Dota 2 Tug of War: Dire America, where, ironically, they lost to the former Infamous lineup, and then performed at StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 2 and took fourth place.

The regional qualification of the main tournament of the year was overcome by the team without any troubles, and the team has several quite famous players, for example, peScofield and pe Stinger. Therefore, it is necessary to approach the match as prepared as possible and the opponents should not be underestimated.

The first game started off with the First Blood going the way of ua NAVI in the bottom lane. T1 was pushed down very fast, falling just 6 minutes in. This allowed our mid, Broodmother, to go for the Dire jungle, getting some kills while there as well. uaCrystallize was having the farm of his life, buying Radiance in very good timing. The game was going in our favour overall, as we maintained a 3k gold lead. uaMagicaL managed to take down the first Roshan, claiming the Aegis.

A rather bad fight near the Dire bottom shrine set us back a little bit. ua NAVI started losing some map control, as pe Infamousdid a good job protecting their territory. Still, some good fights for us gave us a good advantage. By 30 minutes ua NAVI went for the second Roshan, with the Aegis on Broodmother yet again. With a kill our way, we were ready to go for the high ground, going straight for mid. We only got 1 barrack, but the first T3 was down, opening up the map for us.

pe Infamousdecided to smoke and fight on our side of the map; ua NAVI managed to make it into the backlines of the Dire, killing 3, with the cores barely escaping. The following minutes, though, had us lose 2 T3 towers, but a fight 40 minutes in saw 4 heroes dead on the side of pe Infamous, allowing us to get yet another Roshan.

45 minutes in, another fight broke out near our bottom barracks — we had to use some buybacks, and despite a good setup for the Dire, we still scored 4 kills. Soon, only the bottom barracks were standing on the side of pe Infamous, but we still had top T2 standing. As the teams started eyeing Roshan, ua NAVI decided against fighting for it, as we had no buybacks. pe Infamousstalled the game long enough for ua NAVI to regain their buybacks; a fight in the top lane had Lifestealer die.

As the game hit 59, the Dire finally managed to get the Mega Creeps. This forced ua NAVI to stay in the base until the final fight happened. Our cores had no buybacks to use, and there was no amount of sustain to save Alchemist. We drop the first game.

Infamous started the game off with a First Blood on our Earth Spirit. ua NAVIdecided to switch the game up a little — Alchemist, played by uaCrystallize, went mid, while uaMagicaL Dazzle moved top. The midlane saw a rather unexpected turn of events — ua Crystallize managed to claim a double kill against Broodmother and Nyx Assassin. Infamous were looking for a kill opportunity in all 3 lanes, but ua NAVIhad a superior sustain. Crystallize had a very early Radiance on his Alchemist yet again, boosting him very well.

The overwhelming advantage on the side of ua NAVIallowed us to take down the T3, which was a huge momentum rush for us. However, Broodmother's split push potential really spiked, and this led to ua NAVIhaving to abandon Roshan to defend the lane. It took us a while to actually finish Roshan off. With that settled, we went for the base siege, and claimed the first T3 of the game.

From that point onwards, the game became a lot more turbulent. A series of fights resulted in ua NAVIlosing all the barracks — Mega Creeps. This was the moment when ua NAVIwent all in — even if we had been mega'ed, we seized an opportunity to go for the base. BKB and Desolator on Alchemist took its toll — we take the game 2, drawing the series 1:1.
