What to expect from the StarSeries

After ESL Pro League, our team goes to another big tournament — ! The competition will be held from October 21 to October 27, and let's see what we should expect from it.

What you need to know about the tournament:

StarSeries i-League Season 8 is the first big CS:GO tournament in Belek. Belek is a resort city in Turkey, located on the southern coast of the Mediterranean Sea.

Here's what the organizers of the championship say about choosing this venue: “In the eighth season of StarSeries i-League, we intend to move away from the old system and try out a new resort format that is pleasant for players and spectators. First of all, we chose a beautiful city on the coast so that participants could enjoy spending time between games on the golden beach and enjoy the beauties of Turkey. ”

The group stage of StarSeries i-League Season 8, like the playoffs, will be held in a new format for this series: instead of the Swiss system and single elimination, double-elimination (best of 3) will be used everywhere. Teams were distributed in two groups of eight teams each.

The first and second places of the upper bracket of the group stage will go to the upper bracket of the playoffs, and the teams that take third and fourth places will go to the lower bracket of the playoffs, respectively. The prize fund of the competition is $ 500,000, and exactly half of this amount will go to the winner.

NAVI ended up in group B together with 5POWER, Evil Geniuses, FURIA, Heroic, NiP, AVANGAR and G2, who will become the first opponent of the Born to Win at the tournament.

The paths of Natus Vincere and the French team crossed recently, at the ESL Pro League S10 Europe, where the teams played for a slot in the final part of the competition. The game was quite intense, and lasted to the third map. At the end of the day, our team was stronger (Overpass - 16: 10, Mirage - 14: 16 and Dust2 - 16: 13).

If we win, the next opponent of NAVI will be the winner of Heroic — AVANGAR match. Like NAVI and G2, both teams took part in another tournament a few days before the StarSeries S8 — DreamHack Open Rotterdam. As it stands, Heroic secured itself a spot in the finals, and AVANGAR AVANGAR yet had to fight for the same privilege.

Other achievements include the fact that both squads successfully made it to the eighth season of ECS. Besides, Heroic surprised many with the result at ESL Pro League S10: they won first place in the group with Vitality and NiP , which guaranteed them a spot in the LAN finals.

In the other part of Group B EG — 5POWER and NiP — FURIA will fight each other. After winning in New York and failing in Malmö, Evil Geniuses reached the final stage of two big leagues - ECS and ESL Pro League. 5POWER , a team from China, made it to StarSeries S8 through the regional qualifiers. Unfortunately, the chances of the Chinese team to succeed in Turkey have become even smaller, since Savage couldn't come and 5POWER will have to play with a coach.

The last pair of contestants in group B is NiP and FURIA. After GeT_RiGhT left, the “ninja” managed to get into the top 6 at DreamHack Masters Malmo and in the LAN finals of ECS S8. The only challenge the team didn't pass was ESL Pro League S10 finals (final second place in the group). However, the Swedish team still has a chance to make through the next stage.

Like Ninjas In Pyjamas, FURIA ended up in second place in its group at the ESL Pro League. Even though the squad beat MIBR, but due to equal points of 3 teams, the more experienced ones advanced further. Besides, FURIA played at the ECS qualifiers, but so far to no avail.

We hope that the tight schedule will not affect NAVI and after the success of the ESL Pro League S10 Europe, the guys will come up with a fighting spirit for the StarSeries S8. We believe Natus Vincere will bring fans joy with their game and fight for the championship in Belek! #navination
