Dota 2 / News / 1 May 2020 — 12:23

The main tournament of the year has been postponed.

Valve has announced on the official Dota 2 blog that The International, the main annual tournament in the discipline, is being postponed. The 2020 tournament was to be held in August in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden.

The reason for this decision was the Coronavirus Pandemic COVID-19. The company promises to announce the new dates of the competition later: according to forecasts, the tournament is likely to be held in 2021. At the moment Valve will focus on finding the optimal format for the autumn part of the Dota Pro Circuit season.

The International 2020 prize pool will be funded from "Battle Pass" sales (25% of the purchase amount). Its release is planned in the near future.
