ESL One Katowice 2018: the first loss

A long game, but we did not manage to turn it.

The first game of NAVI.GG.BET at ESL One Katowice 2018 was against [:ph:] Fnatic in a Bo1. The series ended with the defeat of Natus Vincere.

The game started off without too much action, as mid lane was pretty quiet, with neither hero really capable of killing each other just yet. GeneRaL had somewhat of a hard time in the top lane against Naga Siren, while the bottom lane was going well for us, as we managed to claim the first blood, with LeBron coming in with the Double Damage. A couple of mistakes on both sides and 10 minutes in the kill score was 5:2.

14 minutes in we took down the first T1 in the mid lane after a pretty good fight there, with Fnatic losing 2. The push coming in from the opponent, though, was very strong, and NAVI were not too well equipped to deal with it just yet. Small skirmishes were happening not too often, as we had to buy BKBs first to stand a good fighting chance.

After a while, the Radiant claimed the first Aegis of the game, and they tried to go for some decisive fight, but never quite managed to do it. Some pickoffs were taken by both teams, but not much to turn the game over yet. The Aegis expired without being used, and NAVI did not go for the next one still, giving it up to Fnatic.

40 minutes in a big fight unraveled near Dire secret shop - NAVI used up quite a bit of ultimates to kill Naga Siren, and that played a trick on us, as we had nothing to follow up with the fight - most heroes dead, save for Death Prophet, who survived on a sliver of health. A couple minutes after, the opponent made a small mistake, which cost them 3 heroes, while we lost a ranged barrack. The kills transformed into a mid T3 taken down.

46 minutes in Fnatic went up our high ground, trying to blow the final strike. The fight unraveled, and 4 buybacks were used on the side of NAVI, but we did defend the high ground. A few moments later, we went for our own aggressive moves, killing Tinker, but losing Dragon Knight and Death Prophet in the process. This instantly provoked the return of Fnatic, as they engaged when 2 heroes of ours were dead without buyback. We lose this series 0:1.
