Doki: «Preparing for the second stage of the European League 2021»

R6 / News / 14 May 2021 — 13:00

An interview with the NAVI Rainbow Six Siege player.

eu NAVI Rainbow Six Siege player gb Jack "Doki" Robertson shared his thoughts on playing in the first stage of the European League 2021, talked about the competitive meta, and talked about his leisure time.

  • First of all, congratulations on your first place in the first stage of the European League 2021! What are your feelings about the victory?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

Over the moon! First major competition I have won after I was unbanned almost a year ago now, so that's great! Hard work paid off.

Before the championship started, eu NAVI was hardly one of the favorites. Can you highlight the main qualities that lead you to your victory?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

Well, we are a new team so we obviously had some honeymoon phase, but we put in a lot of individual and team effort to build up the consistency we displayed throughout the league. New attacks, new defenses, and a whole lot of motivation lead to our win!

Can we say that the main key to this victory was the successful adaptation of newcomers to the team? How did you manage to build up this great teamwork so quickly?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

Well, we got the players we needed: Support flex players and in-game leaders who were masters in their role, so getting them to play the needed roles was no difficulty. I think our already existing strong friendship was a key factor in everything working so well, on top of the countless hours of practice and theory sessions.

You have one month before the next European League Stage starts. What are the team's plans? Will you have any rest or will you spend the whole time training?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

We have just returned from our week break, which was good but it's time to get back on the grind. We will be looking to explore other options of play and increase our strat book so we are even more prepared for stage 2 of the European League 2021!

Share your impressions of the teams' performance in the first stage. Among the players, who surprised you, both positively and negatively?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

gb Blurr and gb Nathan had outstanding seasons, they played their role to the best of their ability and even more in some situations. se Secretly and pl Saves as well stepped up a lot in terms of calling and IGL which was great to see. Super happy with my own performance as well, although I hope to top it next split!

The most popular maps were Clubhouse and Consulate. Why did the teams choose them so often?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

Clubhouse is just a "good" map, no team dislikes it so obviously it will see play. Consulate tho idk, a lot of teams are scared of this map as it favors aggression but I guess teams were feeling fraggy this split lol.

  • The least popular maps were Chalet (you played it once) and Coastline. What is the reason behind this small number of games on each of them?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

Chalet is a new map so it's understandable for some teams not to play it, and Coastline is just terrible! It needs to be removed from the competitive map pool in my opinion it has no real structure behind it.

As for the operators, Thatcher was banned most often among the attackers. Is he too strong on the attack?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

I don't think so personally, we didn't ban thatcher that much if at all if I recall correctly. I feel a lot of new teams are scared to play with and against thatcher as their defenses can crumble very quickly if not prepared. I'd love to see thatcher open in more games!

On the defensive side, Valkyrie, Mira and Wamai were frequently banned. Are these operators also OP?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

I wouldn't say they are "OP" but these bans again just make the game generally easier, Wamai and Mira being super strong anchors and Valkyrie encourages aggressive plays which teams dislike in general.

The long-awaited Six Invitational 2021 will be played in May. Can you make a guess on which teams have good chances to win the tournament?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

fr BDS Esports or eu G2 Esports for the win! Have to support Europe, I think tho that br  Team Liquid, br MIBR and br FaZe Clan are strong contenders.

  • What was the most memorable moment of the first stage for you? Maybe beating Virtus.pro or something else?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

It has to be gb Blurr's 1 v 3 on 7-7 match point against ru Virtus.pro on Consulate, that was crazy! Beating fr BDS Esport again is always sick

  • What about the new Zofia set in ua NAVI colors. What do you think of it? Which operative would you like to see next in the team colors?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

Of course, I want Jager as I love playing jager, but maybe it can be a bit less....... yellow? What do you think lol?

How about streaming, are you planning to do it in the near future? Or will you spend your free time taking a break from Rainbow Six Siege?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

I hope to stream more often, but the terrible state of Rainbow Six Siege Ranked makes it very hard for me to not lose my mind xd.

For one day you had access to ua Natus Vincere's Twitter feed and could post on behalf of the club. Would you like to do that again?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

Sure why not! Let's see if I can lose the club more followers :D

Can you recommend three interesting movies or TV series worth watching, while waiting for your games?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

Ooooh, my specialist topic! For All Man Kind on AppleTV is amazing, as well as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+ and recently I've started watching Star Wars The Bad Batch which is an animated series also on Disney+ which seems super good!

Some words to the fans who have supported you throughout the first stage?
Jack "Doki" Robertson
I I

As always the support means the world to us, and I hope we made you proud crowning ourselves the winners of this split! Hope we can do the same for you next split, and can’t wait to play again!
