Summing up the tournament with tuf0xy

At the first major tournament of the professional Halo Championship Series 2021 season, NAVI finished 7th-8th, best among non-US competitors. Perry "tuf0xy" Kenyon summarized the performance of the Born to Win, as well as the organization of the championship.

How do you think NAVI performed at this tournament?

I

Overall our performance at the event was full of ups and downs but when we needed to we dig deep and got ourselves out of some tough situations; still need plenty of polishing up and we can reach our full potential. But if I had to put a number on it I would say around a 7.

What was missing in the matches against FaZe Clan? Maybe the American teams are just stronger at the moment?

The one big thing I feel we missed out on against FaZe Clan was the ability to change our play-style to the opponent's midway through the series, we had the perception that they would be a very fast and scrappy team but we soon realized in certain situations they change the pace of their play-style to very slow and methodical; and that tiny change was the small margin in both series we faced them.

In all of our matches against the American teams, the margins that we lost felt so small. Individually skilled at times I feel the Europeans are harder to kill.

What would you say about the organization of the tournament?
Perry «tuf0xy» Kenyon
I

The organization of the tournament was very well run for the number of issues that did occur, of course, we, unfortunately, was on the bad side of a few of the crashes which are so disheartening and momentum-killing we could have easily lost our mental but we stayed headstrong and continued to try to compete at our best.

How did you feel, performing in front of a live audience? Did this fact give you an extra boost?
Perry «tuf0xy» Kenyon
I

Absolutely loved playing once again on the main stage in front of all the support - hearing the crowd adds extra tension and weight to the importance of every match. Some teams crumble under the pressure I feel we thrive more so.
