Cmtry: "We really want to play on LAN"

CS2 Junior / News / 29 April 2025 — 12:00

NAVI Junior player Nikita "cmtry" Samolyotov gave a big interview to Bo3.gg. During the conversation, the esports player talked about the beginning of his career, shared his goals, and touched on many other interesting topics.

Tell us how you started playing CS and what inspired you to become a professional?

"I think it was like many others: we had an old computer at home, and I started playing CS 1.6. Even back then, there were a lot of famous teams like NAVI, Fnatic — I watched their games on YouTube and got hooked. Then I played a bit of CS:Source for about two years. When my parents bought a new computer, I started playing CS:GO — matchmaking, public servers, arenas. Then I switched to FACEIT, quickly climbed in ELO, started meeting players, playing in leagues and hubs. I followed the pro scene and wanted to try myself in team play. That’s how I ended up first in NAVI Youth, and later — in NAVI Junior."

Before NAVI Junior, were you playing in any stacks?

"Yeah, there were different stacks and mixes. I’d get invited, play a bit, and leave — it was unstable."

How does the transition from Youth to Junior work in the NAVI academy system? Is it based on age or gameplay skills?

"Our coach changed — dziugss came in, along with other players. We were playing in Youth, and the Junior roster was unstable — they kept testing new players. Eventually, they decided to move the three of us: me, dziugss, and froz1k, and coolio became the coach. That’s how we ended up in Junior and started building the team."
