New Frontiers update

Dota 2 / News / 21 April 2023 — 12:00

Dota 2 has just dropped a massive update called New Frontiers. Patch 7.33 brings a host of balance changes, hero reworks, new items, and even map alterations.

The map has undergone significant changes, as all four map edges have been expanded, providing new paths and objectives for players to explore.

For example, Roshan got a new house, and twin gates have been added, which allows players to teleport between them after a 3-second channel. The patch also introduces Tormentor mini-bosses, additional Outposts, and new neutral camps, adding further strategic depth to the game.

Two more runes have been added: Wisdom Runes are new runes that grant XP boosts to heroes and can be found near the base, providing an easy-to-defend way to gain an advantage and Shield Runes give 50% of your Max HP as a barrier, enabling aggressive early-game plays or surprising encounters. The expanded map now has new creep camps.

Patch 7.33 brings a new category of attribute heroes called Universal Heroes. These heroes do not possess a primary attribute, gaining 0.6 damage per point of each attribute. In addition to this, players will have to get familiar with the Black King Bar and neutral items, reworking of the killing formula, and changing the values of neutral creeps.

One of the most important updates is the redesign of the matchmaking with the new Glicko system for both regular players and for players with Immortal rating. The interface, in turn, has also become more player friendly.

In general, this update can be called one of the most global in the history of the game. For the complete patch notes, check the official Dota 2 website.
