Interview with m0NESY
Enjoy your read!
In early January, Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov NAVI.Junior. In an interview, the young player talked about how his professional career in CS:GO began, evaluated his style of play, and also recalled several MM matches with Zeus.
Hello everyone!
In short, it all started in my early childhood. My brother Andrey was fond of CS 1.6, participated in tournaments, went to LANs. I followed his progress, I liked this game, and we began to share the PC. CS:GO came out, and we played two more years alternately. Then, in 2014, my brother bought a new computer, and I got the old one. And I've been on this old PC until May 2019, gradually climbing to 3000 ELO.
As I turned 14, my parents bought a new computer. We gathered for the first bootcamp with the team NewBALLS — this is my first serious team. After that, we had a good performance at an online tournament, a couple of successful LANs (on one of them I got MVP). Later, the whole squad began to play under the banner of S-GAMING, but due to my age I was dropped from the team: right now, I can not play at many major tournaments. I continued to play and stream, and after the New Year, I was invited to NAVI.
I like this game, plus it's very advanced in terms of the esports scene. And the competitive aspect itself, many venues, tournaments from small to large. All this makes it the best in its genre. It is captivating.
I don't have a story of my nickname. Just thought of it.
I can say that I play very aggressively. I know how to do it, but I try to do it only when necessary.
In the matches, I play the role of the second sniper. I've been wondering for a long time which role suits me the best. It was a hard choice for me.
First I go to bunnyhop servers. If anyone wonders why I do this, it's so that I feel the sense of my mouse, to get used to it, it becomes easier to move around the map. I advise everyone to do this! This takes approximately 20-30 minutes.
Next, we have the usual warm-up on special maps like aim_botz, "fast aim reflex" and many others. It takes 10-15 minutes. And the last step is to watch the demo. I do this for about an hour and a half a day. From the demo I learn a lot of different and useful tricks, moves, I try to remember something new in the actions of a player who plays in my position.
Thanks, it's truly a pleasure, I appreciate his trust in me. Our paths could have crossed, but I did not leave an application for the NAVI Esports Camp project, but they have crossed now, and I'm very happy about that.
I can say this: I don't always watch a certain person's demo. I choose a team and watch the demo the pov of the person on this team who plays in my position.
As for the last question, there are no players so far who really sympathize with me.
No, there were no such moments. I pay attention to how a person moves on the map, how he plays his role, in which situations he acts more carefully. Thus, based on his actions, I can imagine in my mind why and what for he played so.
I like to watch Astralis. The team that has shown us how to play real CS. When watching their demos, you realize how much they have a deep understanding of the game, effective communication, etc. I am attracted to their cautious and sometimes aggressive style. They always try to play differently, and the opponent does not expect this.
Yea, that’s true. In fact, gum allows me to focus on the game. And in general, it helps me :)
Mirage, Vertigo, Train are my top 3. I don't like playing Inferno and sometimes Overpass.
Right now online in CS is growing significantly. I think the developers of the game are currently trying to come up with something new, but we are just waiting.
I would like to upgrade/nerf some weapons. The past nerf to Krieg did not lead to the desired result, so it's time to try something more substantial.
I liked the changes in Galil / Famas. The reduced spread and reduced cost of weapons.
Yeah, I'm into streaming. I just showcase my game to spectators, fans. I like to chat, answer questions.
In my free time, I go for a walk, go to the cinema, if there are any interesting movies, watch videos on YouTube. My main hobby at the moment is CS:GO — it takes up almost all my free time. And I often stream, of course. By the way, I will be glad to see everyone on my channel :)
I can't recall right away which movie I saw the last, I think it was, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
I listen to different music, I have all my music on my page.
The series "The Mandalorian" was great, and well, "Game of Thrones" is just a bomb!
Overall, I agree with the rating, but I would like to see more people from CIS in the TOP-10. I should be there in a couple of years.
No, I haven't met him before. I knew him only as a player. We were introduced by Eric "shok", a famous YouTuber (Lifehacker) :D
Zeus is very cool in communication, charismatic, funny, it was very nice to play with the CS legend. He knows well where the pit is on Mirage, he showed where it exactly is. It’s difficult to learn something by playing matchmaking for fun, even with such a good player.
Of course. I’ve been following him since 2015, and in general, I like him as a player. I watched his successes and victories in NAVI. However, the best moment that I remember was his victory at the PGL KRAKOW MAJOR with Gambit. I was watching the finale back then and was just in shock.
