NAVI Junior: two new players and a coach change

CS2 Junior / News / 27 September 2022 — 18:00

There have been some changes in NAVI Junior: the team added two sixteen-year-old players - Ruslan «yab0ku-» Kekot (support, 4550 Elo) and Yuri «rendY» Galishyn (AWP, 4200 Elo). Igor «crush» Shevchenko became the head coach.

In this position, Igor replaced Amiran «ami» Rekhviashvili, who, after being appointed sports director in July this year, moved on to perform crucial strategic tasks for the club and could no longer dedicate enough time to the junior roster.

yab0ku- and rendY both began their trial period during the ESEA Intermediate Division regular season. So far, our team has confidently passed the tournament's group stages with a 10–2 record and earned two playoff victories. The next match takes place on September 29 at 7:30 PM.

With rendY on the team, NAVI Junior also won the ROG Stand With Ukraine Cup 2022 tournament, scoring 2:0 in the decisive match against GUESS. A 1.28 rating earned Yuri the title of the Grand Final MVP.

We are excited to welcome yab0ku- and rendY to NAVI Junior. Don't forget that as part of our ROAD TO NAVI project, we continue to search for talented young players from Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Eastern Europe. For more details, follow the link.

NAVI Head of Esports Amiran «ami» Rekhviashvili:

«Over the past three years, the NAVI Junior roster has completely changed; we have taken on many talented new players. yab0ku- and rendY have performed well in recent tournaments and earned themselves a spot on the team. I am confident they will turn into excellent players and bring many victories to our club going forward.

I also want to welcome Igor «crush» Shevchenko to the position of NAVI Academy head coach. For over a year, crush has worked as my assistant while at the same time coaching the Youth roster. He undoubtedly proved himself worthy of the appointment.

Igor is just starting his journey in a new role, but I believe in his potential to become a strong coach and bring up multiple generations of young NAVI players, who will stand on par with our best graduates».
