EWC Last Chance Qualifier: Cheer for Oleksandr Bortnyk

Today the Last Chance Qualifier in chess kicks off at Esports World Cup 2025, which is the final opportunity for players to qualify for one of the biggest tournaments of the year. At stake are four slots in the main event with a $ 1 500 000 prize pool, as well as an additional $ 50 000.

The competition will take place in two stages. The first stage will take place on July 24–25 and will be played using the Swiss system with best-of-1 matches. Based on the results, the top two players from each group will advance to the playoffs. The decisive matches will be held on July 26 using the double elimination system.

Ukrainian grandmaster Oleksandr Bortnyk is among the participants in the EWC Last Chance Qualifier. He earned his spot by winning the Road to Esports World Cup LAN tournament in Dallas. On the first day of the qualifier, he will play all nine rounds of the Swiss system. The matches will start at approximately 19:15 CEST.
